Documents you need to provide
To be eligible to study with BMP and receive government subsidised tuition you must be a domestic student. Domestic students include:
- Citizens of New Zealand (including students from the Cook Islands, Tokelau, or Niue who have New Zealand citizenship)
- Permanent residents of New Zealand
- Citizens or Permanent Residents of Australia residing in New Zealand.
National Student Number (NSN) Verification
Once you have submitted your application we will check to see if you have a National Student Number (NSN). If you do, we will match your name, date of birth, citizenship or residency (provided in your application) against your NSN record.
If we are unable to locate your NSN number or you cannot provide it to us you will need to provide verified evidence of citizenship and identity.
What is verified evidence?
A copy of an original document that has been sighted by a person authorised to take declarations under the Oaths and Declarations Act 1957. This could be a:
- Justice of the Peace
- Enrolled barrister or solicitor of the High Court
- Notary Public
- Court Registrar or Deputy Registrar
- Member of Parliament
- Land Transport Safety Authority, Public Trust, government department (including Internal Affairs and Inland Revenue) or local authority employee designated for taking oaths and declarations.
Authorised persons use a stamp with their details. If they do not have a stamp, or if the stamp does not have their details, they must legibly write the following:
- Full name including surname
- Registration number (if applicable)
Each page must be correctly witnessed “Original Sighted, Certified True Copy” and must be dated and signed.
A verified copy of a whakapapa statement is only acceptable when you cannot obtain a birth certificate.
This must be signed by you and a kaumatua as evidence of identity and citizenship. The college must then confirm with the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) if they will accept this type of evidence in each individual circumstance
