"My name is Michelle Mitchell and I have just successfully completed The Business Management Programme. One day I saw an ad in the local newspaper about Cornerstone Education distance learning courses and at the time I had been looking at different options of upgrading my skills and knowledge. I was working part-time as a school bus driver and wanted to find full-time employment. I wanted to get back into an admin position but my qualifications were almost 20 years old, so I applied for the Cornerstone Education Business Management Programme. The number one draw card for me in applying with Cornerstone Education was that this was the cheapest study option I had found, in fact I thought it was too good to be true and didn't really know what to expect, I now know that it is well worth the money, I applied anyway and soon received my application forms which I filled in and sent away with the payment. Not long after, I got my first lot of workbooks and that’s when the panic set it. It had been many years since I last studied and I didn’t know where to start or if I could even get the work done at all. But I read through all the information I was given and found the study guide provided had very useful tips on how to study effectively and where to begin. So I worked my way through the workbook and when it came time to make a start on my first assignment I had another panic attack, it all came down to my lack of confidence and I really thought I was in over my head. That’s when I made contact with student support and asked for help, my tutor Karen Tindall soon replied and gave me the advice and encouragement I needed. Throughout the programme Karen was a great help and the one piece of advice that has stuck with me from our first emails was "It’s never too early to ask for help" . This small but very important piece of advice, I believe, was the difference between me succeeding or failing and will always be in the back of my mind, so for this Karen, "Thank you". With the completion of each paper I became more confident and started enjoying the programme. My partner and family were very proud of my successes and I was proud of myself too. I would recommend to anyone who is looking at studying to give Cornerstone Education a try, don't be put off that it is a distance learning programme or that you haven't studied for years, because if I can do it so can you.
