Success stories

Take some time to read what former students say about our course. The Business Management Programmes are brought to you by the team at Cornerstone Education Ltd ( part of Aspire2 Group Limited ).

Michelle Mitchell
"My name is Michelle Mitchell and I have just successfully completed The Business Management Programme. One day I saw an ad in the local newspaper about Cornerstone Education distance learning courses and at the time I had been looking at different options of upgrading my skills and knowledge. I was working part-time as a school bus driver and wanted to find full-time employment. I wanted to get back into an admin position but my qualifications were almost 20 years old, so I applied for the Cornerstone Education Business Management Programme. The number one draw card for me in applying with Cornerstone Education was that this was the cheapest study option I had found, in fact I thought it was too good to be true and didn't really know what to expect, I now know that it is well worth the money, I applied anyway and soon received my application forms which I filled in and sent away with the payment. Not long after, I got my first lot of workbooks and that’s when the panic set it. It had been many years since I last studied and I didn’t know where to start or if I could even get the work done at all. But I read through all the information I was given and found the study guide provided had very useful tips on how to study effectively and where to begin. So I worked my way through the workbook and when it came time to make a start on my first assignment I had another panic attack, it all came down to my lack of confidence and I really thought I was in over my head. That’s when I made contact with student support and asked for help, my tutor Karen Tindall soon replied and gave me the advice and encouragement I needed. Throughout the programme Karen was a great help and the one piece of advice that has stuck with me from our first emails was "It’s never too early to ask for help" . This small but very important piece of advice, I believe, was the difference between me succeeding or failing and will always be in the back of my mind, so for this Karen, "Thank you". With the completion of each paper I became more confident and started enjoying the programme. My partner and family were very proud of my successes and I was proud of myself too. I would recommend to anyone who is looking at studying to give Cornerstone Education a try, don't be put off that it is a distance learning programme or that you haven't studied for years, because if I can do it so can you. "I am so happy I sucked it up and completed this course in 2010. I have enjoyed this course and its workload. The hours were flexible and fitted nicely with all other commitments I had in my life this year. This certificate will compliment further study that I intend to do in the near future and will help with job prospects. Thank you Lorayne for all your hard work and effort. It has been much appreciated. Good luck to all future students and hope you enjoy this course as much as I did. "

"I decided to accept the challenge to study again in order to obtain a recognised NZ qualification in addition to my already existing German qualifications. This program gave me in valuable insight of how the NZ system works; especially the HR and small business law papers were very interesting but also the work place communication and problem solving papers were very beneficial as I use those techniques now regularly. The timeframes for each paper were reasonable and I even managed to finish the entire program two month earlier. It was very demanding at times but it’s all about time management and careful, disciplined and regular study in order to achieve excellent marks and it took things to the test for me when it came to managing the office work, running a household and not neglecting partner and friends. Although this program is a distant learning program it combines good instructions and support. My queries have been answered promptly. I recommend this programme as a way of gaining not only management skills but also confidence in running an office considering all NZ laws and regulations. "

"When I first applied to do this course I didn't really realise how much time and work I would need to put into it, but I have just finished my last paper and getting the certificate will be totally worth it. I thought this would have been alot harder than it was doing it through correspondence. Although, the papers were really easy to understand and anything that I did need, Lorayne was always there to help. It also meant that I was able to work full time, and fit this in to my free time to get an extra mark on the CV. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone looking at doing a bit of extra study for a great price!!! Thanks for all your help "

"With 20 years of Office Administration and Management experience, I still had no formal qualification to show for my knowledge so I embarked on the Business Management Programme. What a journey it has been, and I am so thrilled I had the courage to 'take the plunge'. I had not studied since leaving high school and was very nervous about the whole "studying" concept, coping with being "MUM" to my two small children & having a part time job. But what a ride it has been, I received awesome marks, helpful and positive feedback from the tutors and the most wonderful support and understanding from Lorayne - you are SUCH an asset to Cornerstone Education and I thank you for your kindness and encouragement throughout the duration of my studies. I have no doubt that the skills I learned and fine-tuned throughout the period of this course assisted me majorly in my appointment (5 months ago) as Executive Manager in the not for profit charitable organisation I now manage. I highly recommend this programme, thank you all so much once again"

"Having come from the UK and worked in many senior positions on experience alone I found it extremely difficult moving to NZ and not even being considered for management/team leader positions. I quickly worked out that in New Zealand qualifications mean a lot more than experience for most entry level senior positions and I needed to take action. Having a full time job and a child on the way I needed to find a way of having my experience recognised without leaving work to study. This course is fantastic; the Assignments work around my time however, I still had to show commitment and time management skills which is paramount to most management positions. Also the student support you receive from Lorayne (and the tutors) is top class. I have learned many skills from this course which I know will help me in the future. I now have the confidence to apply for jobs that I may not have in the past due to fear of refusal. I know that having both qualifications and experience puts me in a steady position for at least an interview. I most definitely recommend this course to others. Thanks to the whole team at Aspire2, keep up the good work."
